Nutriset produces a range of Plumpy products, such as Plumpy'Nut, that are used for preventing malnutrition, treating moderate acute malnutrition, and treating severe acute malnutrition. These Lipid-based Ready-to-Use Foods are aimed at filling the energy, macro- and micronutrient, and essential fatty acids gap of targeted beneficiaries, designed for treatment or prevention of acute malnutrition or for use in emergencies and situations of acute food shortage. Plumpy'Nut is specifically formulated for the nutritional rehabilitation of severely acute malnourished children from six months of age and above, making home treatment/ambulatory care possible. It requires a health practitioner's prescription and regular medical check-ups to treat severe acute malnutrition. The community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition using Plumpy'Nut has increased the number of malnourished children treated while improving adherence to the treatment and recovery rate, complying with the nutritional composition recommended by WHO, WFP, and other international bodies.
