Challenge

Real Medicine Foundation in 2017 revealed 79% of Pakistani women do not manage their menstruation in a hygienic way. This is a result of lack of knowledge, awareness and education about reproductive health, menstrual phenomenon and its hygienic management. Lack of dialogue and taboo attached to period makes it difficult to address these issues openly because of social, cultural and religious constraints. During our Menstrual Hygiene Drives, we experienced these issues first hand.

Description

In order to create a safe and healthy environment for women to menstruate with dignity and confidence, it is important to initiate the conversation surrounding the topic. Dastan-e-Zan addresses the issues related to female health and hygiene by making the conversation less awkward and in a fun and engaging way through material (comic script and V-logs) which is otherwise unavailable to the underprivileged and underserved societies of Pakistan.
