Challenge

Access to clean drinking water is a major issue in low-resource settings. Traditional steel molds for creating BioSand filters are costly and often inaccessible to local NGOs and communities that need them.

Description

The Wood Mold for BioSand Filters is a reusable, low-cost alternative to steel molds. Each mold can produce 50-60 filters, depending on the type of wood and maintenance. It has been effectively manufactured and operated in off-grid locations, significantly lowering the barrier for clean water access.
