Volunteer Corps Tutoring Program

Nigeria

VolunteerCorps is a voluntary organization established in 1992. To achieve our objectives, we implement projects primarily in education, environment, and health. VolunteerCorps designed its intervention around research results, which suggested that if a child who faced educational challenges got extra tutoring in English and mathematics, that child would do well in all subjects. Thus began the Tutoring Program which offers free tutoring in English Language and Mathematics. We began with one tutoring center in 1992 and currently we have 9 centers; 7 in Lagos state and 2 in Ogun state. Thousands of children have benefited with some winning awards and gaining recognition in their chosen professions.
