Challenge

Technology permeates everything we do but it has a gender and it is not female. Research has shown that 82% of girls entering college shy away from tech degrees. A disturbing 5.7 million girls out of the 7.7 million girls aged 16 to 27 years living in Nigeria lack basic tech skills. In addition, every 4 of 5 women running businesses worldwide still encounter discriminatory practices. All these results from male dominance in these fields, higher work burdens among women and inadequate education.

Description

GirlLEAD is a community of technology and entrepreneurial leaders dedicated to making the future accessible to girls by providing a competent and affordable platform to bridge the skills gap in technology and entrepreneurship among girls and young women in underserved communities while providing them with mentors and opportunities to utilize the skills acquired to solve problems in the workplace and their communities. The GirlLEAD Project strives for a world where men and women are succeeding.
