Challenge
Teachers in Tunisia are under pressure from the Ministry of Education to teach students about the Internet and economically valuable skills, yet these teachers are often ill-equipped to do so due to their own lack of exposure and experience with these technologies.
Description
TAWASOL aims to bridge this gap by establishing the necessary technology infrastructure in schools, particularly in rural areas. This includes using Raspberry Pi boards to provide updated educational content to students through tablets. The content includes programming, interactive courses, experiments, lectures, and more. This approach enhances the traditional learning experience and promotes the productive use of ICTs in education.
Outcomes
1. Connected schools in Tunisia to the internet, providing valuable resources and educational materials. 2. Positive feedback from the community with high levels of engagement from parents and students. 3. Creation of opportunities for students like Adam who learned programming despite limited resources. 4. Empowered students to see the internet as an economic opportunity, e.g., a girl planning to sell her handmade products online.
