Strengthening Governance of Education Sector through Public Oversight by Communities in Sindh

LEAD is working to strengthen education governance in Sindh and target various stakeholders such as SMCs, local govt. representatives, CSOs, provincial administrators, and federal civil society members and legislators. It also aims to achieve increased availability of evidence-based knowledge on the state of community involvement in education.

Description

The program has a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework that includes; monthly and quarterly reports to the donor, monthly field visits, visits and participation in all shared dialogues and certain cluster meetings by the Project's coordinator. Additionally, impact through public policy engagement is measured through policy briefs circulated and subsequently, the number of articles published in local media and the number of electronic media programs highlighted through this project.

Outcomes

Notable achievements during the project's duration included; an extensive survey focusing on the state of school infrastructural facilities and engagement of communities, the development of a detailed survey, taluka (Tehsil), district and provincial dissemination meetings, shared dialogues, policy dialogues, the formulation of district clusters, the preparation of a Community Charter of Demand (CCOD), two case studies and three policy briefs drafted, and different media events conducted.
