Challenge

COVID-19 is tearing through the developing world, leaving hundreds of millions of people at risk. In such contexts, where low-income families often live in dense informal settlements and must continue working to put food on the table, following rules like social distancing is simply not possible. With Safe Hands Kenya, we set out to design a new model for reducing the transmission of COVID-19 among communities that can least afford to sustain the impact of the pandemic on their lives.

Description

Safe Hands Kenya is an alliance of ~30 top-tier Kenyan companies that are deploying the most pragmatic, scalable solution to limit exposure to COVID-19 in Kenya: rapid mass sanitation. Through Safe Hands Kenya, we are engaging in large-scale distribution of free soap, hand-washing stations, and masks while disinfecting public spaces; and conducting a behavior change and consumer education campaign called #TibaNiSisi ("We are the Cure" in Swahili) to fight the spread of COVID-19.
