Reading Eggs

Assist students in Grades R-6 (informal and formal learning environments) achieve English literacy proficiency, using technology, at an age-appropriate level. RE provides reporting on individual student progress. Since inception, the Click Foundation has commissioned independent M&E. In May 2013, baseline testing was carried out with Grade 3 classes in Mpumalanga. These initial tests indicated that the two Click Foundation partner schools performed 27% better than the control schools after using the program for 3 to 6 months. A system is has been designed to assist in real time management and monitoring of implementation.

Outcomes

The market was tested in 2012 with a pilot of 800 students in Early Childhood Development Centres and Aftercare centres. Reading Eggs proved to be effective, and in 2013, it was successfully rolled out to 3,000 learners and to 6,500 learners in 2014.
