Penreach Whole School Development Program

Penreach is a holistic school development program, working in under-resourced schools in rural communities, through a variety of interventions stretching from birth to post-secondary school. The program began in 1991 with 1 teacher and 7 learners. For the past two years, Penreach has reached 400,000 children and 2,400 teachers per year, directly and indirectly. Focus has now been placed on the consolidation of the program.

Challenge

Penreach seeks to address the challenges faced by under-resourced schools in rural communities. These schools often lack essential resources, trained teachers, and structured educational programs, severely limiting the quality of education that students receive.

Description

Penreach employs a variety of interventions, including monitoring strategies like questionnaires, in-school observations, ANAs, and NSC results to improve the quality of education from birth to post-secondary school in under-resourced areas.
