OGCLab, the Open Green City Laboratory

Fossil fuels and unsustainable development practices have undermined the our ecosystems. President Xi Jinping has committed to becoming a global statesman in the implementation of the UN SDGs and to demonstrate China’s ability to do so in the Shenzhen demonstration zone – the principal focus of OGCLab. We are reaching out to concerned stakeholders, organizing scientific and technological forums, promoting policy dialogue, and sharing best practices using our low carbon and efficient networks.

In February 2018, the State Council of China approved the request of the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Ministry of Science and Technology to build a national innovation demonstration zone in Shenzhen for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Shenzhen-based OGCLab aims to implement the agenda, especially Goals 4, 8, 13 and 17 of the 17 SDGs. We will bring together global city stakeholders such as decision makers, NGOs, scientists, business leaders and financial experts.
