mHero

Liberia

mHero is a two-way, mobile phone-based communication system that uses basic text messaging, or SMS, to connect ministries of health and health workers. The platform integrates with existing health information systems using open international interoperability standards for health information exchange. It was created to support health-sector communication during the Ebola outbreak in Liberia and has since been adopted by multiple countries.

Description

mHero leverages the principles and standards of OpenHIE to provide a reliable communication channel using simple talk-and-text mobile devices. It integrates various open-source technologies like iHRIS, DHIS 2, RapidPro, and OpenHIE's InterLinked Health Worker Registry to ensure seamless health information exchange.
