Challenge

Due to COVID-19, children are out of school at high rates. Children from disadvantaged backgrounds are disproportionately affected. Most governments are establishing multi-pronged education approaches for the 2020-21 school year. While higher income countries will use Internet-based platforms to facilitate distance learning, low- income countries will rely largely on existing radio learning programs. But radio learning programs do not reach rural areas and they cannot track student listenership.

Description

Through radio, SMS, and digital media, LEAD Learning delivers curated leadership and entrepreneurship content to primary and secondary students across the world. The courses augment standard subjects to address the urgent needs of this moment: innovation, critical thinking, perseverance, entrepreneurship. LEAD Learning has partnered with Orange and UpMetrics to develop an innovative solution to content distribution and impact measurement. Through an interactive voice recording system and a separate digital platform, our content will be accessible via the Internet, mobile phones, radio, and SMS. Students will answer questions at the end of each lesson via the Internet or SMS, enabling LEAD to track listenership, performance, and retention.
