Challenge
In Africa, a significant portion of money aimed at health is misused. The local population faces high drug-related expenses. Diaspora is helping, but there are no guarantees that the money sent for health expenses won’t be misused. Health insurance companies lack an online tool to follow up on their customers' transactions, leading to fraud. Private companies and NGOs cannot ensure their donations reach the right beneficiaries. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is crucial that money raised for the poor is used effectively.
Description
JokkoSanté is a web/mobile app using points as health services payment currency. NGOs and private companies use their online accounts to buy points and target their beneficiaries by location, age, gender, etc. People can micro-save by buying points in pharmacies or with mobile money. Health insurances and mutual companies can manage their members on the platform and pay pharmacies with points. During COVID-19, the app can be used for health and food payments.
Outcomes
JokkoSanté has impacted 42,000 lives, improved transparency in health funding, and increased access to reliable medicines while boosting pharmacists' revenues.
