Challenge
As the Covid-19 pandemic spreads, Frontline healthcare professionals who are directly involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of people with COVID-19 are at high risk of infection (three times more than the general population). They may also be at a heightened risk of psychological distress and other mental health problems due to the ever-increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the overwhelming workload, an information overload, and insufficient personal protective equipment and drugs.
Description
InteleSafe is an app & website for frontline health workers to learn about pragmatic & effective personal protection measures, chat with a PPE expert on WhatsApp and request for mental health counseling on telemedicine. Our goal through InteleSafe is to provide health workers with knowledge on how to use PPE correctly, how to extend the life of PPE using evidence-based methods, and how to use alternatives (like DIY face shields or surgical gowns made from raincoats) when they run out of PPE.
Outcomes
The successful deployment of the InteleSafe app and website at scale has equipped health workers with vital information and resources to protect themselves effectively during the COVID-19 pandemic. This has likely led to reduced infection rates and better mental health among frontline workers.
