Challenge
Smallholder producers are generally poor. Consumers also pay inordinately high prices, the balance is paid to the only rich party, the intermediary. With the right intervention, farmers can produce the right food, safely store it, and deliver on orders from consumers, with the consumers paying less and the farmer earning more. Data-driven infrastructure can help realize this.
Description
Local youths and students can with training digitally obtain nutrition-driven orders from consumers, deliver them to a FoodHub, and the aggregated orders from the blockchain anchored smart contract to deliver high-value nutritive foods to farmers who aggregate the produce and deliver to FarmHubs. At the FarmHub, youths deliver knowledge in production and capture traceability data souring data for input from satellites and mobility platforms.
Outcomes
Farmers earn more and consumers pay less due to direct buying from producers, fostering economic empowerment and access to nutritious foods.
