Inspiring Science Education for Girls Using ICT

Through the Inspiring Science Education for Girls Using ICT project, SchoolNet enhances science teaching and learning for girls in government schools by providing affordable computers, interactive multimedia resources, teacher professional development, advocacy, and hosting extra-curricular events.

Challenge

The project addresses the need for improved science education and ICT integration for girls in government schools. It focuses on providing necessary resources and training to enhance learning outcomes and increase participation in science-related activities.

Description

The program monitors indicators such as active participation in other projects after the camps, increased use of internet research for science, and improved software skills application in science work.

Outcomes

15 schools across Uganda participated, reaching 15,000 girls. Trained 100 science teachers on ICT in science teaching. Sold 1200 computers to schools and individual teachers. Held 5 school-based and 1 centralized sensitization workshops. Supported 3 school science exhibitions and conducted 2 Science with ICT holiday camps for girls.
