INJAZ Young Volunteers Day

Jordan

INJAZ Young Volunteers Day is an annual program that seeks to instill the values of volunteerism among youth in Jordan. Through service, students refine valuable communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that help them to grow as individuals and as a part of the community. INJAZ operates in public, UNRWA, and military schools as well as youth and community centers throughout Jordan, primarily in low income urban and rural communities.

Challenge

INJAZ Young Volunteers Day aims to instill the values of volunteerism among youth in Jordan while addressing the communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills gaps in low income urban and rural communities.

Description

INJAZ's M&E strategy consists of setting activity and output milestones, plotted on a timeline, to better track and identify rate of progress and outputs. Its M&E methods also include: setting Key Performance Indicators and collecting data through surveys, focus groups, and pre- and post- testing, identifying best and worst practices in implementation for future reference, and analyzing collected data and identifying issues with regards to progress, outputs, and impact that require action.

Outcomes

The project has significantly benefitted students by enhancing their communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. It initially benefited 118 students and was expanded to reach over 3,800 students the following year. In subsequent years, the project has had a beneficiary outreach exceeding 10-15,000 students annually.
