Challenge

GODAN was launched to pioneer the proactive sharing of Open Data to make information about agriculture and nutrition available, accessible and usable to the public to tackle the urgent challenge of ensuring world food security. Today, the lack of food is still bringing detriment to many societies and the next 50 years will bring the need to produce 70% more food than at presence. In order to meet this challenge, the world's collective thinking needs to change and innovations must be in place.

Description

GODAN promotes the collaboration and cooperation among stakeholders in the agriculture sector to harness the growing volume of data generated by new technologies to address the long-standing food problems and to benefit farmers and the health of consumers. Through the use of Open Data to integrate different sources and improve the quality of data available to those in the farming industry, farmers can be provided with relevant and historical data to improve the efficiency of their practices.
