Challenge
A baseline survey was used to initially identify target villages in the Thatta District of Sindh. Village profiling was done as well, in order to determine which villages were the most disadvantaged in terms of lack of access to schooling and/or secondary education.
Description
SRO has developed a simple monitoring system to track project inputs, implementation activities, and expected results. The dropout-rate, net enrollment rate, and distance from secondary schools are used for schools site selection. Project reporting is a major on-going component of the M&E strategy, with regular monthly and quarterly reports sent to the donor by the SRO Project team. SRO supervisors make regular visits to at least 3 community coaching centers per week to monitor activities.
Outcomes
project successfully enrolled 171 girls through community participation and teacher commitment. The project was scaled-up in January 2013, establishing an additional 12 CCCs, raising the student enrollment to over 500 girls.
