Girls Secondary School Certificates

Pakistan

The Sindh Radiant Organization's Girls Secondary School Certificates project aims to improve access to education for girls in extremely remote areas of Sindh Province, who otherwise would have not been able to continue education after primary school, by setting up community-based learning centers.

Challenge

A baseline survey was used to initially identify target villages in the Thatta District of Sindh. Village profiling was done as well, in order to determine which villages were the most disadvantaged in terms of lack of access to schooling and/or secondary education.

Description

SRO has developed a simple monitoring system to track project inputs, implementation activities, and expected results. The dropout-rate, net enrollment rate, and distance from secondary schools are used for schools site selection. Project reporting is a major on-going component of the M&E strategy, with regular monthly and quarterly reports sent to the donor by the SRO Project team. SRO supervisors make regular visits to at least 3 community coaching centers per week to monitor activities.
