A successful pilot project was started in 2009 to build, using indigenous design and green building concepts, much needed classrooms for a school in the area, using unskilled labour from the community. In 2013, the DRF Community Building Project is involved in building projects in 17 schools in the area. 120 unemployed members of the community have been employed and 5700 children have been impacted by this project. The program targets under-resourced schools in communities with high levels of unemployment, providing skills and income generation to the community.
