OverviewContributors

Challenge

Currently around 10% of the world's population, or roughly 650 million people, live with a disability. 61 million primary school-age children are kept from attending school due to various disabilities, denying them a fair chance to reach their full potential. Out of 285 million visually impaired people, only 10% are literate. The high cost and bulkiness of existing devices are major barriers.

Description

Dot Incorporated developed a revolutionary braille cell that is significantly smaller and cheaper than existing technology. This technology is used in their range of products, including the Dot Braille Smartwatch, Dot Braille Reader, and Dot barrier-free kiosk. These products are designed to provide affordable and accessible solutions for the visually impaired, especially in low-income settings.
