Challenge
Over the past ten years, the humanitarian community has made significant efforts in approaching needs assessment and analysis. Under the Grand Bargain on Needs Assessments Workstream, a wide range of partners have come together and committed to improving cross-sectoral, methodologically sound, and impartial assessments. Despite this, effective operationalization of such practices and initiatives in support of strategic decision-making remains limited. The deluge of secondary data faced by humanitarian analysts makes timely and accurate analysis difficult.
Description
DEEP meets the need for a common platform to compile, store, interpret, and share data. It utilizes cutting-edge technologies and analytical workflows to streamline the data analysis process. The platform supports joint analysis in multiple humanitarian contexts and applies both qualitative and quantitative data within common analytical frameworks.
Outcomes
The DEEP platform has been used in multiple humanitarian contexts, supporting sudden-onset emergencies and complex emergencies. It has proven its value by directly informing strategic initiatives like Flash Appeals, Emergency Plans for Refugees and Migrants, and Humanitarian Needs Overviews.
