Challenge
Promoting an international dimension to education through joint curriculum projects and sharing of best practices. The initiative aims to reach children from low-income families and has so far connected over 5,200 schools and 936,000 young people worldwide.
Description
Projects are monitored against plans. Usually there is a baseline, and at intervals, questionnaires are administered. School visits are carried out and impact/success stories are shared with internal and external stakeholders. The impact of such school links has been measured through the number and quality of school partnerships, as well as impact stories generated by participants involved in the partnerships.
Outcomes
Connected 160 Nigerian schools to schools in the UK, engaged about 120,000 students from various Nigerian states, trained 18,079 teachers from April 2009 to March 2013, and have had over 936,000 young people across the world participate in Connecting Classrooms.
