Community Based Early Childhood Care and Development

Mulumbo Early Childhood Care and Development runs community-based centers that provide ECED services to children ages 0-8 in economically vulnerable communities in Zambia, advocates for increased national attention to ECED, and mentors other ECED programs. Mulumbo has grown since its inception to currently operate 7 early childhood development centers throughout Zambia.

Providing early childhood education in economically vulnerable communities in Zambia

Description

Mulumbo caregivers identify at-risk children within the community to participate in Mulumbo centers. Each quarter, staff conduct visits to evaluate performance and address challenges, holding community feedback sessions, and monitoring student attendance.

Outcomes

Operation of 7 early childhood development centers in Zambia, accommodating 150 children per center, with regular evaluations, community feedback sessions, and careful monitoring of student attendance.
