Challenge

The rapid increase in production and use of recyclables in F.C.T through the fast growing pace of urbanization, has led to a struggle to adequately meet the city’s waste management needs. The ability to effectively and collaboratively manage the rapid rise in the use of all recyclables and their subsequent disposal as waste or environmental pollutant has become critical.

Description

These Buyback Recycling Hubs will improve critical collection, segregation, transportation, treatment infrastructure at household / corporate/ Institutional level that will help to unlock the social and economic development potential, as well as reduce the cost of State subsidies/expenditure on waste management operations; supporting the Government to develop arrangements for the efficient collection of the recyclable waste stream within the Extended Producer Responsibilities.
