Challenge
The program kicked off in 2009 with 10 young entrepreneurs and grew to 50 in 2014. In 2014, the program activities extended to serve two areas within Nairobi (Kawangware and Eastlands).
Description
Over its initial three years, the program was designed as a pilot allowing for variation in its model based on user need collated and relayed back to the implementers. Now CVC aims to develop efficient and timely M&E mechanisms to allow sharing of information among the centers and other stakeholders, such as the government. Key areas of interest: livelihood generated, personal confidence, community cohesion, youth returning to academic education, work (vocational/technical) skills advancement.
Outcomes
The program served two areas within Nairobi (Kawangware and Eastlands). 100 young entrepreneurs have indirectly benefited from the program by attending public entrepreneurship training and guest speaker sessions hosted biannually.
