Campus Night School

Nigeria

OverviewContributors

Challenge

There is a large gap in boys' education in Anambra State. Many boys are out of school due to the need to work during the day.

Description

Campus Night School offers night classes using the same curriculum and premises as regular schools. This allows boys to work during the day and attend classes at night. Students take the same examinations as day students, and their performance is compared to evaluate learning outcomes.

Outcomes

As of June 2013, about 800 boys had enrolled in the primary school and over 1000 boys in the secondary school. The first Campus Night School was established in 1992, and this has motivated the establishment of more than 70 other night schools in the urban areas of Onitsha, Obosi, Nkpor and Ogbaru.
