357 million primary school-aged children lack basic reading skills due in large part to the absence of books in their first languages. In low- and middle-income countries, there is a significant shortage of locally written and published reading materials, hindering literacy development.
Description
Bloom provides an easy-to-use, offline tool that allows speakers of any language to create and translate decodable and leveled reading materials. It supports book creation in over 7,000 languages and includes tools for creating accessible books for the visually impaired and Deaf readers. Bloom also has extensive training materials available.
Outcomes
Bloom has created over 6500 books in 400+ languages and is being used in 17 countries. It has won multiple awards, enhanced inclusive education, and grown a collection of COVID-19 resources in 170+ languages.
