The City Government of Legazpi and the Province of Albay experience high disaster vulnerability due to limited access to reliable disaster information. This information gap affects both local government units and citizens, hindering effective preparedness and response during disasters.
Description
Balangay is a disaster preparedness mobile application designed to bridge the information gap by connecting vulnerable communities to life-saving information before and during disasters. It provides a real-time platform for communication between local government units, NGOs, and affected communities, delivered in simple language and accessible offline.
Outcomes
Improvement in disaster vulnerability; 320 downloads, 229 active users, 8,674 website hits, and increased understanding of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) among students and citizens.
