Challenge
Health and nutrition education programmes tend to engage women due to their perceived traditional roles as primary caregivers. Yet, 500 million women worldwide are illiterate. Audiopedia addresses the need for a robust and scalable approach that doesn't rely on the written word to provide knowledge to marginalized populations.
Description
Audiopedia combines relevant and localized Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) audio content with easily usable hardware and software. CBOs/NGOs can search, download, embed, and share audio files in several languages, aiding their SBCC strategies. It works using solar-powered Audiopedia Players and mobile web applications.
Outcomes
Several successful pilot projects in Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Scaling the innovation with the support of strong partners into 20 countries by 2023.
