Arpana Swasthya Kendra is a partnership project of Arpana Trust and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The MCD has authorized Arpana to run the health centre (Arpana Swasthya Kendra) as well as cover the World Bank IPP VIII Population Program.

Challenge

The project addresses the health needs of low-income populations in targeted areas of north India by providing outpatient consultation services, emergency referrals, mobile clinics, and community health outreach.

Description

The appointment, management, and salaries of the staff are Arpana's responsibilities. Under the partnership, Arpana Swasthya Kendra provides outpatient services including laboratory investigations, X-Ray, ultrasound, and medicines. It also offers emergency referrals and surgeries for poor patients, and runs a mobile clinic for outreach.

Outcomes

In the year April 2008-March 2009, 24082 patients benefited from their services. Immunizations were given to 98% of pregnant women, while 99% of newborn babies and young children received scheduled immunizations.
