OverviewContributors

Challenge

Government schools in India generally cater to the poor; the program is implemented in government schools, benefitting students from these communities.

Description

Akshara has appointed cluster facilitators (CFs) to monitor the program in terms of usage of TLM and group activities and extend on-the-spot support to teachers in each region. To identify the impact of the program, a longitudinal research study has been designed to evaluate program effectiveness. The RCT design follows an approach of collecting learning outcomes of children. Once a year, an assessment of children will be administered by teachers in schools other than the RCT group.

Outcomes

467 schools in Bangalore have implemented the in-school program Nagu Nagutha Ganitha. Improved numeracy and basic literacy skills among students of class 1 to 5 in rural government schools.
