Inclusive Capital Exchange at SOCAP24
Connecting emerging fund managers with capital allocators in-person at SOCAP
funding
Description
In SOCAP’s ongoing efforts to increase deal flow for impact, driving more of the right forms of capital to where it can have the greatest impact on the world’s biggest challenges, we are excited to partner with New Majority Capital, Common Future, Roanhorse Consulting, and Armillaria to bring a new offering to SOCAP24 attendees: the Inclusive Capital Exchange (ICX). The ICX consortium is a group of dedicated change-makers in the impact investing space committed to transparency and the flow of capital for impact.
Fueled by a desire to exchange not only ideas but also capital at impact conferences like SOCAP, ICX’s founding members came together in 2024 to pilot the ICX at SOCAP24. The vision for the ICX is to create virtual and in-person experiences at impact conferences for investors and emerging fund managers to connect and come to terms.
The ICX at SOCAP24 is inviting participants with the following goals:
Move from talk to action, and facilitate the movement of money, with soft commitments during SOCAP, and checks written by the end of March 2025.
Create the conditions for impact organizations raising investment to leave with checks, commitments, and deep relationships.
Prototype a digital platform that facilitates discovery, diligence, and deployment of purpose-aligned funding across the capital spectrum.
Who Should Participate
ICX invites emerging fund managers who are currently raising a fund I, II, or III, and LPs, foundation investment officers, or asset managers who are currently allocating funds to participate. Other interested parties are invited to submit their information to stay informed about future ICX events (the form is linked below).
Application Process
When to Take Action
Before SOCAP24: To participate at SOCAP24, you must be a registered attendee (register here if you haven’t yet!) and create a short online profile that will be used to build the ICX marketplace for the event. Registered SOCAP24 attendees can fill out this form as soon as possible - https://airtable.com/appJrrjo7h1ZgVwaN/paguC6PC8tYKN8beh/form
Participants will be accepted until midnight UCT on Sunday, October 20. The ICX team will create matches the following week and send match notifications to participants no later than October 25.
At SOCAP24: ICX and SOCAP are partnering to host an in-person “speed-dating” session, where you can meet who you matched with, during the conference on Tuesday, October 29, from 12:10 to 1:15 p.m. at the Embarcadero in Cityview. Lunch will be available in the room.
After SOCAP24: The ICX team will follow up with participants to learn how many
and what size deals were made. ICX will report on the experience and use this session to inform the design of future ICX experiences.
How to Engage
Ahead of the event, ICX will follow up with participating to see what relationships and deals are emerging. Participants can review each other’s submitted profile information and indicate with whom they would like to exchange more information. (If you are not attending SOCAP, please submit your information to participate in future ICX events.)
During the speed-dating session at SOCAP24, the room layout will allow everyone to meet with every one of their matches. ICX is inviting everyone to approach this experience with curiosity and in the spirit of building something together that could become a permanent feature of future SOCAP conferences. The mutual goal of ICX and SOCAP is to build more opportunities to drive deal flow toward impact and a brighter future, and we hope you join us in building a model to continue to make these opportunities come to life.
